Welcome back! It’s Fitspo Friday! If you’ve read my about page, you know abs are my favorite area to work. I love having ab definition, because it makes me feel like I’m in great shape. Today I’m sharing lots of great ab inspiration to so you’ll be motivated to do more sit-ups. Be sure you eat right, too! Probably 95% of having good abs comes from watching what you eat and making sure you have a healthy diet.
I post this image every week as a reminder that this is a place for positive + healthy inspiration. I try not to promote images that are unrealistic or that would require surgery to achieve. Fitness is all about consistently eating right, working out, and — most importantly — feeling and being healthy!
My favorite ab workout this week is called the cat raise plank. This workout adds a fun little twist to the plank and it really works that area on your tummy just below your breasts…where you can develop a really great line of definition — if your body fat is low enough.
While you’re in plank position, lift your hips straight up and hold that pose for a few seconds. I repeat this move 20 times and hold it for a count of 5 seconds for each repetition. I really focus on squeezing my upper ab area while I’m holding the position — almost as if I’m trying to make my ribs touch in the middle.
If you’re interested in doing a month-long plank challenge to build up your core muscles, you can try this one. Start it at any time! I like to print it out and tape it to my mirror so I’m reminded to do it every day.
