It’s Fitspo Friday again! I’m so happy you’re back! Thanks for checking in for more weekly fitness inspiration. Did you have a good week? Are you tired of the dog days of summer and ready for some cooler weather? Every time I workout I find myself wishing I owned my own shaved ice store so I could rehydrate with bottomless cups of the stuff (pina colada flavored, of course).
FITSPO: Short for Fitness-Based Inspiration. Images of active, strong, and fit women that promote proper exercise and diet.
I post this definition every week as a reminder that this is a place for positive + healthy inspiration. I try not to promote images that are unrealistic or that would require surgery to achieve. Fitness is all about consistently eating right, working out, and — most importantly — feeling and being healthy!
The images below are from Pinterest and Instagram. I don’t own the copyright to them, I’m just inspired by how fit these girls are! I’ll post all the image sources at the bottom of the page in case you want to follow the ones you find the most motivating. Here’s this week’s inspiration:

My favorite workout this week is the glute bridge. You can do this workout on a bench (balance your head/neck/shoulder area on the bench with your body to the side) or on the ground, as pictured below. You can use a weighted barbell (as shown in the photo below), a weighted bar (I prefer a heavier one, like the 36 lb. Body Bar from Target), or beginners can balance a heavy book or single weight plate across their hips. Absolute beginners can perform this workout with no weight at all; simply focus on squeezing to isolate your glute (bottom) muscles each time you lift.
To do the workout, lie on your back (or on bench) with feet shoulder width apart and flat on the floor and knees in a bent position. Contract your ab muscles and squeeze with your glutes to lift your hips off the floor, then lower hips back down to the ground. Aim for 3 sets of 12 reps. If you’re using really heavy weights to build glute muscles, then you may not be able to do as many reps.
To increase difficulty for this exercise, you can perform a single leg glute bridge — which means you’ll keep one leg bent while lifting the other one and keeping it in a raised position throughout the workout.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale begins today, June 22, and runs through August 7. The Women’s Zella ‘Live In’ Leggings in Black are one of the sale items. I’ve mentioned them as a favorite during my Fitspo posts many times in the past, but they rarely go on sale. These leggings are rated 5-stars on the Nordstrom site, with 3,000+ reviews. You can’t go wrong even when they aren’t on sale, but this is a great opportunity to stock up while you can grab them for $33.90 (normally $52).
Remember: Shipping and returns are always free at Nordstrom, so you can order a pair, try them on in the comfort of your own home and return them at no charge if you decide for some reason that you don’t like them. To shop my affiliate link (always appreciated!), click here:
