1. I Use Fitbit to Get PAID to Workout
Yes, you read that right! I have my Fitbit Zip synced to the PACT app, and I earn money each day that I take 10k steps or more. It's not a get rich quick scheme, but I have earned enough money through that app to cover the original cost of my Fitbit (and then some)!
2. Fitbit Helps Keep my Fitness Goals on Track
Fitbit sends weekly email updates to show my progress. I can tell in a glance if I'm getting off track. I really appreciate apps that help hold me accountable to my fitness goals and encourage me to step things up when I'm slacking off.
3. Fitbit Customer Service is Legendary
When my iPhone broke ONE DAY after the warranty expired, I called Apple about it and they told me I was out of luck. Grrrrr. The Fitbit brand is on the opposite end of the customer service spectrum. When I called them because the display stopped working on my Fitbit Zip — even though it was out of warranty — the customer service rep told me it didn't seem old enough to have gone dead and offered to replace mine immediately. Gracias, Fitbit!! I already loved you and now I just love you that much more! Any company that stands behind their product is a good one in my book.
4. The Badges & Notifications are Motivating
What can I say? I like cheesy rewards. It makes me happy to open my Fitbit app and see a 100% green dashboard. The daily dashboard for the app begins in the red zone, then fades to orange/yellow, and finally turns green once I've met my daily fitness goals. I always aim for green! Sometimes I treat my dashboard like a video game and try to beat my own high score. I also enjoy earning the “daily steps” and “lifetime steps” badges, and they motivate me to move on and aim for higher levels.
5. Fitbit Makes it Easy to Get Social
I like that I can easily add friends on Fitbit, and we have fun cheering each other on. We can also taunt one another if we're slacking, although I've never done that. (I'm all about the positive reinforcement.) I mentioned it in this post, but I always make it a goal to try to finish as #1 for the week out of my group of friends. A little encouragement to workout benefits everyone involved!
