You love your mom, so it's only natural you want to spoil her on her big day, right? Chances are good she has her favorite go-to makeup items that could stand to be replenished, but why not use Mother's Day as an opportunity to introduce her to some of the latest-and-greatest beauty products? We've rounded up our “best in beauty” list in a variety of price points and are sharing them in today's Mother's Day gift guide. The majority of these are items we use often and love, so we've linked to samples whenever possible!
If you prefer a quick summary that includes photos of the products with the prices clearly marked, click on any of these three photos for an easier shopping experience. If you appreciate reviews and would rather learn why we selected each item, keep reading!
If you're the type who prefers handmade gifts, this DIY sugar scrub would make a fantastic Mother's Day gift and it only takes minutes to make. It even includes free printables! Now, on to the beauty gifts…
Shea Moisture Manuka Honey and Marfura Oil Intense Hydration Hair Masque – One of our newest deep-conditioning hair discoveries and a brand new favorite on our “must have” list. This stuff is good! It smells heavenly…like coconuts on the beach. 🙂
Benefit The Porefessional (mini) – We recommend this primer all the time (here and here, for example), so why not give mom a mini sample and let her try it out? Primer is great for moms because it helps smooth out lines and wrinkles so foundation with go on smoother.
Benefit They're Real! Mini Mascara – This is another of our favorites, no doubt. You can see it used on Daisy's lashes in this post and again in this makeup essentials post. People frequently if her lashes are fake when she's wearing this mascara, so if your mom wants to add length to her lashes then this is a good way to do it.
Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Hand & Body Scrub – This smells just as delicious as the hair masque, and if you paired the two together it would make for a really nice gift!
NYX The Skinny Mascara – This is the mascara we recommend most often for bottom lashes because it's so tiny and easy to apply. It's the best way to avoid raccoon eyes! Watch the end of this video to see Daisy applying it to her lower lashline.
Smith's Lip Balm Trio – What a steal! Order a trio of one of our top lip balm brands, then steal one for yourself and give the other two to mom. 🙂 The “minted” one is a favorite, but they're all really nourishing and taste great. The flavor is so mild that you'll barely taste it at all, but these balms make lips kissably soft.
Essie Sunshine State of Mind – Of course mom wants a fun new polish for summer! “Sunshine State of Mind” is a great name for a summery nail polish color, isn't it? 🙂 Pair this with a gift certificate to a spa for extra credit.
Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette – Quite possibly our favorite palette for under $10, this one contains beautiful neutral colors and pale blush tones. You can see it on Daisy in this post where she created a subtle purple eyeshadow look.
Burberry Brit Eau De Toilette – Many moms like keeping a handy little roller ball in their purse so they can touch up their perfume throughout the day and you can't go wrong with Burberry. It's a classic fragrance with a fresh and fruity scent.
Burberry Lip Velvet Matte Lipstick – Another Burberry favorite? Velvet lipsticks. They rank high on our list for their long-lasting wearability, beautiful colors, and creamy texture.
Herbivore Coconut Milk Body Bath – This organic body bath soak smells like coconut and leaves skin feeling SO SOFT. Daisy's discusses her love for it and tells how to prep skin for summer in this post.
Herbivore Botanicals Coco Rose Lip Conditioner – It's like a coconut bath soak, but for your lips! It smoothes and softens lips and is another organic product. Combining this with the bath soak above would make for an extra-special gift! Plus, organic (and cruelty-free) is the best way to go, whenever possible.
Charlotte Tilbury The Retoucher – Charlotte Tilbury's packaging is stunningly beautiful and The Retoucher is one of the best concealers we've ever used. We wrote about our love for it in this post about the best essentials for every makeup guru and again in How to Master the Natural Makeup Look.
MAC Lipsticks – The Patisserie shade is Daisy's current favorite lipstick (see it here). It's a great everyday look that blends really well with her natural lip color and she loves the creamy texture. MAC lipsticks are high quality and you can't go wrong giving them as a present. You can see all of their top rated lipsticks here. (Iconic is another color option that's great for everyday wear.)
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner – This is another current favorite of Daisy's. Read all about it and see it in action in her Winged Eyeliner Tutorial. It's a fantastic liquid eyeliner that glides on easily and stays in place all day — until you want to take it off. Moms who are fans of the dramatic look will love this one!
Bare Minerals Lash Domination – Daisy has a few mascara brands that she gives a gold star to and this is one of them. She wears it in her Amp Up Your Eyes With Mascara post and always gets rave reviews on it. You can see it in action in this post, too. Seriously…those are her REAL lashes with only mascara added to them. It's good, good stuff. (Be on the lookout for an upcoming post about our top 5 mascaras!)
Too Faced Lip Injection – This is a great product for moms who find their lips are thinning out as they get older. You can see it on me in this post (the blush photo). It makes your lips feel very tingly when first applied, but then it fills them out so you don't notice all of the fine lines and wrinkles in them and they look smoother. Good stuff! (Moms tend to like anything that reduces the appearance of wrinkles!)
Urban Decay Beached Bronzer – This bronzer comes in two color options: Sunkissed (for fairer skin tones) and Bronzed (for beach goddesses). The packaging on this one is so cute that if we were gifting it to mom, we'd deliver it with a fresh pina colada and a cute beach towel to carry out the theme.
Ralph Lauren Romance Eau De Parfume – Perfume is a classic gift and there's nothing more classic than Ralph Lauren. For that reason alone, you can't go wrong selecting this as a Mother's Day gift option.
Benefit Cosmetics Mascara Most Wanted Set – This is the only lash kit mom will ever need to create bolder and sexier lashes. This kit is an amazing deal and mom will love testing out 4 of the top selling mascaras in Benefit's lineup, in addition to using the gel eyeliner that's perfect for drawing a killer cat eye. Urban Decay Naked2 Palette – This is a longtime fan fave in the makeup world! It's a neutral makeup palette that has subtle shades for a subdued daytime look and darker tones for nights out on the town. This is a good one for moms who travel frequently, since you can get such a variety of looks from one single palette.
Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Palette – Check it out in action on this picture and this one on our Instagram account. Daisy's also wearing it in this post about the Makeup Essentials Every Girl Needs. This is Daisy's #1 top eyeshadow palette right now, so if you can find it in stock you'll probably make your mom a very happy lady! It's a beautiful kit! (We have more posts coming soon with this one.)
Laura Geller Baked Body Frosting in Tahitian Glow – This bronzer goes on smooth and looks stunning, particularly on those of you with paler skin tones like ours. See it in action on the Today Show in this clip (bronzer starts at the 1 minute 45 second mark). You can also get a peek of it on our Instagram in this shot. Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Eye Shadow Collection – Full disclosure: This is one of the few items on the list that we don't actually own, but we have other cocoa products from Too Faced and they're fantastic! We wanted to include this one because it's really cute (which always makes for a good present) and it has brighter colors than a few of the other palettes we've suggested — for those of you who like really pigmented palettes.
Too Faced Cocoa Contour – You can't beat a contour kit that smells like chocolate, and this one smells delicious! Daisy used it in her Everyday Makeup Look post and in a few other looks that are coming soon.
Stila Eyes Are The Window: Soul Palette – This a palette that gets used frequently around our house and is another fantastic option if you like neutrals and mauve tones. You can see it on Daisy's Retro Glam Makeup Tutorial. Two thumbs up for this palette!
Tarteist Blush – This blush kit contains four colors: Live, Laugh, Love, and Dream. It's great for the mom who can't make up her mind or who enjoys mixing colors to create a personalized shade. Plus, the packaging is really cute — and you know we're suckers for packaging!
