Have you noticed the 70s style trends making a comeback in fashion magazines lately? Some of the outfits may seem a little extravagant, but I absolutely love them! There's just something so fun about a decade where people wore costume-y looking clothes in their everyday life and totally rocked the look. If you're planning to try the trend out this fall season, I have a couple tips to share in order to help you rock the 70s vibe.
It looks like I popped straight out of an episode of That '70s Show and onto my front porch.
Tip 1: Own the look! Having confidence is key with any fashion trend. If you feel uncomfortable, it'll show. But if you look like you're having fun and like you love the outfit you have on, then other people will likely love it, too. Even if they don't, they'll love that you're having fun and aren't afraid to express yourself.
Confidence and a smile are always the best accessories!
2. Keep the side show to a minimum. In other words…don't over accessorize! Sure, I could add big sunglasses and loads of bracelets to this look, but I opted to keep it simple so the focus would remain on the pants and my favorite hat. The only accessory I added was a pair of hoop earrings.
Vertically striped pants and platform shoes are a great way to look long and lean.
Tip 3: Stick with neutrals. My crazy pants stand out enough on their own, so I chose neutrals for the rest of my outfit. The pants have a lot of black in the outlines, so I went with a black hat and top. I like the way the sleeves on my shirt mimic the bell bottoms on the pants and the floppy brim of the hat.
Yes, those are little elephants on the side of my pants. Fashion should be fun!
What about you? Do you plan to incorporate any 70s style outfits into your wardrobe this season? Do you like my look, or do you think it's too much? I think it's fun! What better time than in your teens and 20s to experiment and have fun with bold looks?!
I kept my makeup pretty simple and straightened my hair with a flat iron. The hat is from Nordstrom: Topshop Floppy Wool Felt Hat in Black
I hope you're having a great week!
