Sharing my Love for Fashion Design

June 11, 2016 |

My favorite classes I took during high school were Fashion Design I & II. They were so much fun! I really loved making my own clothes and spending time with my friends. At the end of the year, we got to put on a fashion show, so I thought I'd share a few pics.

My first fashion show for AP Fashion Design class.

We were able to design clothes throughout the year and show them off during the fashion show, so these were all outfits I made.

I was supposed to have someone else model all of my designs, but the girl who was going to wear the prom dress had to cancel at the last minute, so I ended up tossing it on and walking the runway in my own show! Oh well. Gotta roll with the punches, right? I didn't even have heels on hand to wear with it, so it was dragging on the ground!

My fashion creations for my AP Fashion Design class in high school. That's me in the middle.

The striped dress is my favorite outfit I made all year, because it's something I'll definitely wear a lot. The white dress is perfect for the beach, so I can't wait to wear it there! I made the red dress for a friend of mine, so I'm going to pass it along to her. All of the models in the show did such a great job.

The prom dress I designed for AP Fashion design class.

Here I am modeling the prom dress after the show ended. I like the way it turned out! I wanted it to look similar to the dress from the movie Cinderella. As it turns out, I didn't wear it to my actual prom because I ended up wearing a dress that belonged to my mom. This one was just for the fashion show.

Here's the one of my mom's that I wore to my Senior Prom:

I can't believe I even made it to prom because I wasn't planning on going. I did hair and makeup for my friends all day long to help them get ready and had a really full schedule, but decided to go at the last minute since it was my senior year. I'm glad I did!

Prepping for a Fashion Show

Getting back to the fashion show, it was a really good lesson about preparation. We had to create a program to hand out to the crowd, so I had to write up my bio and help assemble that. I also had to line up the models a few weeks in advance to make sure the clothes fit them and so they could practice a few times.

This was the first fashion show my school ever held, so we asked the tech theater team assemble a runway with lights and they did a great job! We also picked emcees and music to accompany each of the outfits. (I picked Taylor Swift for my part of the show, of course!)

It was a really fun experience and it's amazing how great teachers can really make a difference in their students lives! I'll never forget Ms. Diep and Ms. Mendietta for everything they taught me. They're the best! Everyone should be so lucky to have such great teachers.

Hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share a peek into my school life and some of the things I created this year, so I hope you liked it. 🙂 I'm excited that it's summertime!

XOXO, DAISY

Throwback pic! ⠀ How many of you own your own Throwback pic! ⠀ How many of you own your own home here in Savannah but rarely travel because you don't like boarding your pets? ⠀ ⠀ The pet-loving community is HUGE worldwide, and there are lots people who A.) love animals and B.) want to see Savannah. ⠀ ⠀ Guess what? They'll happily travel here to take care of your house and your pets while you go off on an adventure -- and they'll do it for FREE. You can skip the expensive boarding fees, and your pets will be happy because they can stay home and get spoiled. It's a win/win😊⠀ ⠀ Got questions? What’s something unique you’ve discovered duri What’s something unique you’ve discovered during your travels? This was a fun find for me. It’s an old-timey “Wate and Fate”!! To use it, drop a quarter in the slot next to the month you were born and the scale will show your current weight, plus a fortune 🔮 I had fun with it and dropped a ton of quarters in just to read the various messages. My favorite one said “More church and fewer nightclubs would help you” 😂😆 (And this is why I love taking the backroads when I travel!)

The King-Tisdell Cottage is named after its former owners and is chock full of African-American history from the 1800s to present time. It’s located in the Historic District. Savannah is jam-packed with houses, so that means Savannah is jam-packed with houses, so that means you’ll often find multiple homes on one lot. The larger homes face the streets and the carriage houses and tiny homes face the lanes, aka: back alleyways. Let me tell ya, there are some really cute homes down some of those lanes! 💙💙💙
