It’s that time of year again, folks! That’s right, it’s the time of year when fashion bloggers [somewhat annoyingly] promote the annual Nordstrom Anniversary Sale or #NSale. If you aren’t familiar with it, here are the pertinent details:
Official Sale Dates:
July 21 – August 6
July 13 – July 20
FTC Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links, which means we’ll receive a small referral fee from purchases at no cost to you. You can read our affiliate policy here. We donate 25% of our “click money” proceeds to these charitable organizations.
If you’re a Nordstrom Rewards member, consider yourself lucky; only Rewards members gain early access to the big sale! That golden ticket means you can shop deals before anyone else. Here are a few other perks of becoming a Rewards member:
- Earn one point per dollar spent with cash, check or a non-Nordstrom credit or debit card.
- Earn two points per dollar spent on Nordstrom credit or debit card purchases and enjoy benefits that increase with your spending level.
- Earn additional points on bonus points days (view a calendar of triple-points days here)
- Receive a $20 Nordstrom Note (gift card) to spend with every 2000 points earned from purchases.
How does the sale work?
Typical Store Sale: A product's price is reduced after an item has been available for a while and the store wants to move that item out to make room for the next season's merchandise.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Nordstrom debuts new items for the upcoming fall season that have been hand-picked [“curated” in fashion blogger language] specifically for the sale. The items are name brand + current trends, and include everything from booties to denim to makeup. Selections debut at discounted rates, then the price tag goes UP on August 7 — once the sale ends.
Many of the items sell out before the end of the anniversary sale (or even during presale!) and never make it to their regular price. Nordstrom also includes some of their top selling staple items in the sale. They also offer Anniversary Sale “Beauty Exclusives”.
If you've read our blog for any length of time, you know Daisy and I are both big Nordstrom fans. We frequently offer Nordstrom giveaways, I list them as my favorite store in my “get to know Erin” interview, and one of our first posts when we started this blog was about their anniversary sale last year.
Remember: Nordstrom has free shipping + free returns, so you can shop from home and return anything you don't want without ever needing to gas up your car.
What to buy?
Here's where we become annoying fashion bloggers and include our favorite curated [wink, wink] items.
Women's Zella ‘Live In' Leggings in Black – These leggings are rated 5-stars on the Nordstrom site, with more than 3,000 reviews. You can't go wrong even when they aren't on sale, but I'd use this opportunity to stock up while you can grab them for $33.90. I like that these pants are of a thick enough material that they aren't see through when you bend over or do squats. Value: $52.
Other than stocking up on workout leggings, the “Beauty Exclusives” are my second-favorite buys:
Clarisonic ‘Mia – Electric Pink' Sonic Skin Cleansing System – The Clarisonic Mia is another 5-star rated item on the Nordstrom site, and for good reason because it's awesome. I use mine daily and Daisy borrows it at least once per week. You can read about our love for it in Daisy's Top 10 Do's and Don'ts for Teen Skin and in my Skin Care Products Worth the Splurge posts. We highly recommend these face scrubbers! If you don't already own one, pick it up while it's on sale for $89 and includes a trial sized cleanser. Value $129.
Bobbi Brown “Bobbi on Trend – Pink Lips” Set – This trio provides 3 options for the perfect lip finish: semi-matte, sheer, or high-shine. This pink color is flattering to most skin tones and the kit provides a great way to take your look from day to evening. It's available in a nude set, as well. If you spend more than $100 on Bobbi Brown during the sale, you'll receive a free gift with purchase. Cost: $50. Value: $81.
NARS ‘Nordstrom's Best' Cheek Palette – This palette includes 4 shades of blush, plus a highlighter and bronzer. It's a Nordstrom Beauty Exclusive. Cost: $65. Value: $124.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Studio Set – Anastasia brow products are another long-time favorite of ours here on the blog. This kit contains the dipbrow pomade in your choice of 3 colors (Daisy and I would go with “Soft Brown” option for our skin tones), a brow brush, and the clear brow gel — which has serious staying power. Cost: $36. Value: $58.
Women's Zella ‘Daylight' Track Shorts (in Black, Red Poppy, or Teal Compass) – If you like Nike ‘Crew' Dri-Fit Running Shorts, chances are good you'll also like these shorts from Zella; the fit and style are very similar. These — and the Nike's — are the best shorts I've found for girls with a decent-sized booty (raising my hand, as I'm definitely in that club). On sale for $33.90. Value: $58
Women's Kate Spade New York Mini Small Square Stud Earrings (aka: the confetti earrings or glitter earrings) – These earrings always garner compliments and are wildly popular. They come in a variety of colors, but Gold Glitter, Opal Glitter, and Rose Glitter are my current favorites. This item usually sells out, so grab them while you can at the $20.90 price tag. Value: $32
Well, that's it from me today. I'm not much of a fashion blogger, but I wanted to point out a few of the basics worth grabbing and list the Beauty Exclusives we like most. Happy shopping!
