Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum Review
What Is Vitamin C Serum?
Vitamin C serum is an antioxidant that protects skin from free radicals. The Mario Badescu product contains 7.5% Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), plus Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen.
What Are The Benefits of Vitamin C Serum?
When incorporated into your daily skincare routine, Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum helps to:
♡ Produce Collagen
♡ Enhance Skin's Elasticity
♡ Brighten Dull Skin
♡ Reverse Signs of Aging
♡ Thicken the Dermis Layer of Skin (which better protects skin from sun damage)
TIP: Skin doesn't produce Vitamin C on its own, which is why it's imperative to apply it topically. That's also why it's so important to eat a healthy diet that consists of the daily recommended dose of Vitamin C. I recommend these top 10 foods for better skin.
How To Use Vitamin C Serum
Apply a few drops to clean skin and lightly pat in place using your fingertips. I prefer to apply mine in the morning right after my shower, on freshly washed skin. Because serums are made of microscopic particles that penetrate into the deepest layers of skin, it's best to apply serum first before adding moisturizer, sunscreen, or makeup.
I apply it near my eyes (where smile lines tend to develop), on the backs of my hands, and on my neck. You only need a very small amount of serum! Apply a thin layer and let it absorb into skin prior to applying any additional products.
Update: Since so many readers have told us that applying skincare products is a confusing subject, I created a helpful guide on the subject. Make sure to check it out if that's a topic that puzzles you.
TIP: Antioxidants such as Vitamin C run the risk of destabilizing when exposed to air. Select antioxidants that are packaged in opaque, air-restrictive bottles to keep the ingredients stable and take care not to leave the lid open for extended periods of time.
Just ignore the fact that I have makeup on here! I normally apply it fresh from the shower, but this is for demo purposes to show you where I use it most — which is that delicate skin around the eye area. I pat it in with my ring finger, because that's supposed to be the weakest finger on the hand and therefore the least likely to tug at skin and cause wrinkles.
Who Benefits From Vitamin C Serum?
- Anyone who has skin that appears dull, dry, or tired and is in need of a pick-me-up
- Anyone, of any age, who is concerned with wrinkle prevention and collagen stimulation
Are There Any Drawbacks?
I use Retin-A at night and it doesn't mix well with Vitamin C; it can cause stinging or redness when the two products are combined. For that reason, if you're a regular user of retinol or tretinoin creams, I'd suggest applying one of the products in the morning and the other at night.
If you have very oily skin this product may not absorb to your liking and skin may seem oilier. It has a (very mild) lavender + citrusy scent, for anyone who is sensitive to scents.
TIP: Store Vitamin C Serum in a cool, dark area. Many can be refrigerated, but it isn't necessary.
Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum Review: The Verdict
Two thumbs up, for certain! Mario Badescu has so many winners in their product lineup, and this is an all-time favorite of mine. My skin feels more hydrated and seems “glowy” after I use it, and my wrinkles seem slightly softer and less apparent.
If I forget to use this before applying my makeup, I can always tell a difference. I've had people tell me my skin looks radiant when I use this product on a regular basis (combined with my regular skin care routine). Also, I appreciate that Mario Badescu does not test on animals.

Mario Badescu is by far my favorite skincare line. I love their stuff! Their serums are great, we use their facial sprays to dampen our makeup sponges, we use the drying lotion to get rid of pimples, and I use their oil-free moisturizer everyday. I’m one of their biggest fans!
