Since Daisy and I are such makeup aficionados and are always testing new products, we thought it was time to debut a makeup product review section. I don't know about you, but I'm always on the hunt for a miracle in a bottle, and the Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum is one of the best solutions I've discovered so far. For that reason (and because I'm a brand loyalist and love Mario Badescu), I thought I'd debut it as my first review!

What Is it?
Vitamin C serum is an antioxidant that protects skin from free radicals. The Mario Badescu product contains 7.5% Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), plus Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen.
What Are The Benefits?
When incorporated into your daily skincare routine, Vitamin C Serum helps to:
– Produce Collagen
– Enhance Skin's Elasticity
– Brighten Dull Skin
– Reverse Signs of Aging
– Thicken the Dermis Layer of Skin (which better protects skin from sun damage)
How Do I Use It?
Apply a few drops to clean skin and lightly pat in place using your fingertips. I prefer to apply mine in the morning right after my shower, on freshly washed skin. Because serums are made of microscopic particles that penetrate into the deepest layers of skin, it's best to apply serum first before adding moisturizer, sunscreen, or makeup.
I apply it near my eyes (where smile lines tend to develop), on the backs of my hands, and on my neck. You only need a very small amount of serum! Apply a thin layer and let it absorb into skin prior to applying any additional products.
Just ignore the fact that I have makeup on here! I normally apply it fresh from the shower, but this is for demo purposes to show you where I use it most — which is that delicate skin around the eye area. I pat it in with my ring finger, because that's supposed to be the weakest finger on the hand and therefore the least likely to tug at skin and cause wrinkles.
Who Will Benefit From It?
- Anyone who has skin that appears dull, dry, or tired and is in need of a pick-me-up
- Anyone, of any age, who is concerned with wrinkle prevention and collagen stimulation
Are There Any Drawbacks?
I use Retin-A at night and it doesn't mix well with Vitamin C; it can cause stinging or redness when the two products are combined. For that reason, if you're a regular user of retinols or tretinoin creams, I'd suggest applying one of the products in the morning and the other at night.
If you have very oily skin this product may not absorb to your liking and skin may seem oilier. It has a (very mild) lavender + citrusy scent, for anyone who is sensitive to scents.
Two thumbs up, for certain! Mario Badescu has so many winners in their product lineup, and this is an all-time favorite of mine. My skin feels more hydrated and seems “glowy” after I use it, and my wrinkles seem slightly softer and less apparent.
If I forget to use this before applying my makeup, I can always tell a difference. I've had people tell me my skin looks radiant when I use this product on a regular basis (combined with my regular skin care routine). Also, I appreciate that Mario Badescu does not test on animals.
